Historical Archive Guidelines for use of the Consultation Room

The Historical Archives Department organizes, facilitates and disseminates the documentary heritage of the Nation, made up of all those documents in any medium that have been declared of scientific and cultural value by the National Commission for the Selection and Elimination of Documents, coming from the National Archives System, private or particular.

This department preserves in its deposits documents of the following classes: textual, which constitutes the majority; digital photographs, positives, negatives and slides; graphics such as maps and plans, posters, small format material; films, sounds and videos. It is important to note that notarial documents more than 20 years after they were created are also preserved in this historical archive, except those from 1960 onwards, which are preserved in the Notarial Archive.

Curridabat, San José from Plaza del Sol Shopping Center, 900 m south and 150 m west.
